Cell Phone SAR Data
What Is SAR
SAR, stands for Specific Absorption Rate, and is a value that estimates the maximum amount of radiofrequency radiation from a device absorbed into one’s body. In the United States the Federal Communications Commission, known as FCC, has limited the SAR value on devices for the general public to 1.6 watts of RF radiation absorbed per kilogram of body weight. Although SAR is limited, many tests from the credible Chicago Tribute, illustrated in the article “We tested popular cellphones for radiofrequency radiation. Now the FCC is investigating” indicates that most phones that were believed to be under the federal limit, where exponentially above. Speaking of varying data, SAR data can differ based on the rate of absorption of different parts of the human body. For example the Body SAR of a phone may be more than the Head SAR value of the same phone.
Finding SAR Values and Data
There are many resources that you can find the SAR value for your/a phone. Usually, SAR values for a phone are provided somewhere within the phone ( in settings), or in the respective phone manual. You can also find the data online. Databases such as Mobile Manufactures Forum: a database of SAR values for popular devices or the FCC SAR database provide SAR values for common types and models of phones.
